Concrete Scanning

At A&A Scanning LLC, we use the most advanced and sophisticated (GPR) Ground Penetrating Radar system.  We use the Hilti PS 1000, which is a non-destructive system used to scan and inspect concrete areas. Our model has a Quickscan Detection capability which will provide us with 2-D and 3-D data visualization with top view and cross sectional views. We also can provide reports at an additional cost, for your project completion.

What is Concrete Scanning?

It’s a technique used to locate potential marks under the concrete surface, by using a digital display for mapping out these marks before core drilling can take place.  We can minimize hitting concealed objects when drilling anchor holes or through holes, breaking out openings and in diamond coring and sawing work. Unlike x-ray scans there is non-hazard by radiation frequency, so it can be done at any time of business.

Our GPR system is accurate in locating the following:

  • Rebar
  • Post tension cable
  • Beam locations
  • Metal & plastic pipe and conduit
  • Glass fiber cable
  • Voids in dry concrete structures
  • Inspection of floors, decks, slabs, balconies, etc. in structures such as tunnels, bridges and buildings
  • Live electrical wiring in embedded surfaces such as walls, slabs, columns, etc.

Scanning capabilities for our system are up to 24 inches of concrete, and certified at 18 inches.

Dependant on the area, in which our team will inspect, there are sometimes variables and limitations that will be explained.
